Tools that come back off the pier with you

Grippers, pliers, landing nets and tackle kits picked for salt water and a long day. Stocked by a bait shop, so nothing here is decorative.

Chosen for salt

Stainless and coated tools, because Coney Island is not a lake.

Sorted the way a tackle box is

Grippers, nets, kits, tools and the stuff that keeps them dry.

The shop

A bait shop that sells the tools too

Coney Island Hook and Bait sits a couple of blocks off the water on West 24th Street. Bait moves fastest, but the tool rack is what people come back for — grippers, pliers and knot tools that survive salt and get used hard.

From the counter

Will these tools survive salt water?
The rack is stocked with salt in mind — stainless, aluminium and coated finishes. Rinse them in fresh water at the end of the day and they last seasons.
What is a lip gripper for?
It holds a fish securely by the jaw so you can unhook it without squeezing the body. The non-puncture models we stock are the ones to use if you are putting the fish back.
Do the tackle kits include hooks?
The kits state their exact contents in the specification table — most include hooks, weights, swivels and rigs in a divided tray.
What is shipping?
Free US shipping on orders over $50; a flat $6.95 below that.
